A while back, I created an event open to all creatives, designed to share real stories and experiences from our industry. Each event hosts two leading figures from the creative world who spill the secrets behind their most interesting projects, from initial ideation all the way to the final result.
The shady underground bar.
With the branding, I wanted to capture the irreverent atmosphere of an underground bar where people aren't afraid to share their trade secrets while enjoying a couple of spritzes.
No creative discipline was off-limits. We listened to Dan Mumford and Jenni Sparks talk illustration, Rogie Custodio share video game design tips, and The Clearing blow our minds with incredible branding projects. We even explored niche topics like variable fonts with Bianca Berning, Creative Director at Dalton Maag, and papercraft with Andy Judd, former director at Shillington Education London.
A pint and a chat about design.
With so many talented speakers, the event became a go-to touchpoint for curious designers eager to uncover the behind-the-scenes reality of inspiring projects.
For those just starting out, it was a breath of fresh air: hearing industry heavyweights talk about the graft, insecurities, unexpected hurdles, and difficult clients totally demystified success. It proved that challenges are part of the game, and that true magic lies in using those hurdles to find brilliant solutions.
